Kerala’s ayurveda a major crowd-puller at MITTE

Kerala’s centuries-old ayurveda heritage proved the main draw for Russian and other East European travellers at the 24th edition of Moscow International Travel and Tourism Exhibition.

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Kerala’s centuries-old ayurveda heritage proved the main draw for Russian and other East European travellers at the 24th edition of Moscow International Travel and Tourism Exhibition (MITTE), the largest tourism trade event of Russia. The three-day exhibition concluded on Thursday.

The Kerala Tourism pavilion set up at the fair’s venue at Expocentre in Moscow presented an array of rejuvenation ayurveda therapies.  

“The diversity of Kerala’s rich ayurveda tradition is a difference-maker to us at promotional campaigns around the world. Despite competing claims from emerging markets, tourists and trade operators know our mastery of the ayurveda remains unmatched,” Tourism Minister Kadakampally Surendran said.  

Principal Secretary, Tourism, Venu V said travel trends in Russia varied from region to region.

Kerala Tourism Additional Director (General) D Balamurali said Kerala Tourism was planning FAM tours (familiarisation tours) for select tour operators and mediapersons from Russia to better spread the message of the state’s healing touch.
