THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The Kanjiramkulam police on Tuesday arrested a 27-year-old youth for allegedly sexually assaulting a 25-year-old girl during his birthday party. The accused Monsi, a native of Pampukala, Kanjiramkulam had gone absconding after the incident on November 26, 2015. Monsi had invited the victim, a resident of Kumarapuram, to his birthday party held at his house.
During the party, Monsi allegedly took the girl to a room and sexually assaulted her, police said. Though the police registered a case based on the complaint by the victim, they couldn’t trace him as he had left the state. On Monday police spotted the accused at his house and arrested him. He was produced before the magistrate and remanded in judicial custody.
60-year-old abuses minor girl
A 60-year-old man was arrested by Kadakkavoor police for alleged sexual abuse of a 10-year-old girl and attempt to rape her grandmother at Kadinamkulam on Monday. The accused Vikram is a resident of Channankara. According to police, the incident took place at the house of the victim on Monday.The accused visited the victim’s house on the pretext of cutting the branches of a tree. He saw the old woman sleeping and tried to overpower her. However, he ran away as she raised an alarm. The police said the accused was known to the victim’s family. A medical examination confirmed the girl was sexually assaulted.
