THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Special counters will be opened for dengue diagnosis at seven government hospitals in the district. Laboratory Medicine and Molecular Diagnostic division of Rajiv Gandhi Centre for Biotechnology will test the blood samples taken from the patients.

Health Minister K K Shailaja will inaugurate the counter at General hospital on Monday at 8 am. The facility will be available at district hospitals of Nedumangad, Neyyattinkara, Peroorkada and thaluk hospitals of Chirayinkeezhu, Varkala and Vithura. The counters will be using technology that will give instant diagnostic results of blood samples. Also the counters will have facilities to diagnose other types of fevers. The tests will be done free of cost and the counters will be opened during the out patient schedule. The facilities are provided jointly by the district panchayat, health department and RCBC. Director of RCBC, Dr M Radhakrishna Pillai requested the public to make maximum use of the facility.
