THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: BJP councillors blocked the office of engineering section in the Corporation against the delay in executing road works in their wards. They accused the ruling LDF in the Corporation for deliberately stalling the projects.
BJP councillors of Valiyavila, Vattiyoorkavu, Thirumala, PTP Nagar and Pangod singled out an assistant engineer for the delay. “The AE assigned to five wards is busy with other works in LSGD Department. We have been asking the Mayor for the past 20 days to replace him with another engineer. But the Mayor chose to play politics,” said parliamentary party leader of BJP and councillor of Valiyavila Girikumar.
Incidentally, the same engineer was replaced from the responsibilities of Kanjirampara ward when it’s CPM councillor demanded his removal, he said.
ccording to Girikumar, the contractors were shying away from taking road works as the engineer was not available for taking the estimates. The councillors held a day long protest demanding a replacement for the engineer.
