KSRTC demands management to address dearth of drivers

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Vehicle supervisors in the KSRTC demanded the management to address the shortage of drivers.

Their demand came in the wake of complaints regarding lack of enough drivers to run the service. This has led to cancellation of schedules in various depots. “When the schedule is affected the management puts the blame on us.

But we do not have the powers to allocate work to drivers from other depots if there is a shortage.” said vehicle supervisor Jude Joseph.

As per KSRTC rules, a driver needs to report 30 minutes before the duty starts. “The shortage of drivers, emergency leave availed by them affect the schedules. It is the responsibility of higher officers to manage the shortage. But if the schedule is affected the blame is put entirely on us.” said Joseph.
