THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Traffic restrictions will be in place in the city from Sunday to Thursday in view of the visit of Sharjah Sultan and  Supreme Council member, UAE, Sheikh Sultan Bin Mohammad Al Qasimi.  On Sunday, traffic and parking restrictions will be in force at Shanghumugham, All Saints, Chackai,  Vazhamuttom, Vellar and Kovalam from 2 to 5 pm.

On Monday and Tuesday, the restrictions will begin at 9 am and will end at 1 pm. The traffic and parking at Kovalam, Vellar, Vazhamuttom, Thiruvallam, Kumarichantha, Kallummoodu, Enchakkal, Chackai, Pettah, Pattoor, General hospital, Asan Square, Martyr’s column, RR lamp, corporation point, Nanthencode, Devaswom Board, TTC, Museum, Vellayambalam, Raj Bhavan and Kowdiar will be restricted on these two days.

On Tuesday, there will be restrictions from 2 to 6 pm also at Kovalam, Vellar, Vazhamuttom, Thiruvallam, Kumarichantha, Kallummoodu, Enchakkal, Chackai, Pettah, Pattoor, General hospital, Asan square, Martyr’s Column, R R Lamp, Corporation point, Museum, Vellayambalam, Keltron, Manaveeyam road, Althara, Vazhuthacaud, Xanadu and Thycaud.

On Wednesday and Thursday, traffic will be restricted from Kovalam, Vellar, Vazhamuttom, Thiruvallam, Kumarichantha, Kallumoodu, Enchakkal, Chackai, All Saints and Shanghumugham in the morning and evening. As per statistics, the department has only a limited strength of 4,800 personnel, including officers, to serve the 3.5 crore population in the state.
