Kerala Blockchain Academy bags honour

The Kerala Blockchain Academy (KBA) of the Indian Institute of Information Technology and Management-Kerala (IIITM-K) has become the first Indian institute to get membership to the Hyperledger project

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The Kerala Blockchain Academy (KBA) of the Indian Institute of Information Technology and Management-Kerala (IIITM-K) has become the first Indian institute to get a membership to the Hyperledger project hosted by Linux Foundation. The KBA, a first of its kind in the country, is a joint initiative of the IIITM-K and the global Blockchain Education Network (BEN).
The academy aims to explore the possibilities of leveraging blockchain technology for public good, capacity building initiatives, promoting disruptive innovations and entrepreneurship.

Officials said the academy will also act as a window to the opportunities in blockchain technology for students, young professionals, budding entrepreneurs, local industry and governmental agencies. Hyperledger is an open source collaborative effort created to advance cross-industry blockchain technologies.

KBA is now an associate member along with Cambridge Centre For Alternative Finance (University of Cambridge) in Hyperledger ecosystem, which was launched in 2016. The Hyperledger ecosystem has 30 founding corporate members.

Hyperledger aims to enable organisations to build robust, industry-specific applications, platforms and hardware systems to support their individual business transactions by creating enterprise-grade, open source distributed ledger frameworks and code bases.It is a global collaboration of leaders in finance, banking, internet of things, supply chain, manufacturing and technology.
