Don’t cut power subsidy for domestic customers: Opposition leader Ramesh Chennithala

The Union government has directed states to reduce the power subsidy for domestic by 20% from August 1, 2018.

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM:  Opposition leader Ramesh Chennithala has asked the government not to implement the Centre’s directive to cut power subsidy for domestic customers in the state.

The Union government has directed states to reduce the power subsidy for domestic by 20% from August 1, 2018. “This would translate into an additional burden on Rs 2 per unit on domestic consumers,” said Chennithala in a press release issued here on Friday.

This hike would be unbearable for the common man who is already suffering from the spiralling prices of commodities, he added. He said that the Opposition would not allow the state government to implement the anti- people decision of the Union government.
