Norka into recruitment of maids for Kuwait

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM:In a pioneering move to create jobs for many women from the state in Gulf countries, the Norka-Roots, a public sector undertaking for the welfare of Non-Resident Keralites, has invited applications from  women for the job of housemaids in Kuwait. In the first phase, Norka will train and recruit 500 women on a two-year contract.

It has already chalked out plans after discussing with Al-Dura company in Kuwait and Indian Embassy in Kuwait for the purpose. As per the guidelines, the age group of the women should be in between 30 and 45. The training and recruitment will be free of cost.

“ It is a big step indeed in terms of recruiting a large number of women in a Gulf country. Since all the stakeholders involved in this process are government agencies in both the countries, we can ensure safety for our women. We can also ensure the domestic help is not exploited anymore,” said CEO of Norka roots  Harikrishnan Namboothiri.
