THIRUVANANTHAPURAM:The construction of two classrooms at Chathanur LP School near Pattambi at a cost of Rs 20 lakh may not be a big deal for a company like DMRC or E Sreedharan, considering his track record in fulfilling challenging works such as Konkan Railway and Metro rail projects.
However, he took up the work despite running into red tape as he has an emotional connection to the place, where he did his primary schooling eight decades ago.All that is part of history now. What brought the issue to the public domain was the Metroman’s visit to the office of Finance Minister Thomas Isaac here on Wednesday.
What caught the minister by surprise was the integrity and commitment shown by Sreedharan, both in terms of completing the work and finding time to reach the capital to express his gratitude to the minister, who had cleared the project after some hiccups developed in awarding it to DMRC at the beginning, the minister wrote on Facebook.
