Three held with over 7 kg of ganja

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The Kattakada police on Saturday nabbed three youths allegedly in connection with a seizure of over 7 kg of ganja near Kattakada. The arrested are Jaffer, 32 and Pushparaj, 22 of Kallara and Ameer, 23 of Kollam. According to the police, the accused landed in the police net at Poovachal en route to Aryanad while they were transporting the substances weighing around 7.340 kg in a Maruthi Swift car.  

The ganja concealed in various sealed packets were transported for supplying to various dealers in the hilly region of the district. “The interrogation is on. The arrested are involved in several criminal cases and they were also taken into custody earlier for drug-related cases.

We suspect a big team behind the accused. We will also probe the involvement of other-state ganja peddlers. Upon interrogation, they said they brought the substance from Theni and Kambam in Tamil Nadu,” said G S Saji, Kattakada SI.
