KITE school audit to take wing today

Through this  KITE will collect the usage details directly from over 80,000 teachers and over 2 lakh students in as many as 40,083 hi-tech classrooms.

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: KITE (Kerala Infrastructure and Technology for Education) is all set to initiate a massive school audit in the state from Monday to assess the usage of  Information and Communication Technology (ICT) equipment and facilities in schools as part of the hi-tech school project. The project is aimed at upgrading the schools into centres of excellence.  

“The usage of ICT equipment and facilities provided to schools, usage of Samagra Resource Portal in hi-tech classrooms, usage of broadband Internet connection in schools, support and maintenance mechanisms, including complaint management systems of ICT equipment at schools, Sampoorna- SPARK update will be covered in the KITE audit,” said K Anvar Sadath,  KITE vice-chairman and executive director.

The audit will be conducted in the 4,752 high schools, higher secondary schools and vocational higher secondary schools in the state where hi-tech school project was implemented and it will make use of a specific questionnaire for the headmaster or principal, teachers and students. As part of the audit, KITE master trainers will visit all the schools.  

During the audit, the details pertaining to the use of hi-tech equipment will be collected from all the teachers and five selected students from each division in all schools where the programme was implemented.

Through this  KITE will collect the usage details directly from over 80,000 teachers and over 2 lakh students in as many as 40,083 hi-tech classrooms.

As part of the project, KITE has provided laptops, multimedia projector, screen, USB Speaker, projector mounting kit, HDMI Cable and faceplate, high-speed Internet connectivity to each of the hi-tech classrooms. Besides, the classrooms have been given access to Samagra Resource Portal which provides digital content repository for classroom learning.  The detailed circular on the audit is available at  www.kite.kerala.gov.in.

Audit in two phases

The audit will be conducted in two phases. The first phase of the audit which covers the general data collection will be conducted during October 22-30. The second phase of the school audit focusing on qualitative assessment will be conducted in January.
