The semi-final round of the ACM International Competition was conducted at the Amrita University’s engineering campuses in Amritapuri, Coimbatore and Bangalore.  Team Illusion-1 from Indian Institute of Information Technology, Hyderabad, topped the list of winners in Thursday’s contest.

The second position was won by the Team Dracharis-1 from IIT Bombay and the third position by Team Paradigm Shift from IIT Indore. Teams who cleared the semi-final round will participate in the international finals to be held in Ekaterinberg, Russia in June 2014.  In all, 1250 students in 400 teams from over 125 colleges in India, Bangladesh and Taiwan took part in the semifinals.

Participants from India came mostly from  premier institutions like IITs, IIITs, NITs, BITS, etc.

Amrita University is hosting the prestigious ACM International Collegiate Programming Contest (ICPC) for the 9th consecutive year. Acknowledging the importance of this contest site, ICPC (with its headquarters at Baylor University, US) announced that Amrita University is the largest contest site in the world with highest number of teams participating in the history of this competition.  The teams attending the semi-finals were selected after the preliminary contest held in October 2013. Top teams qualifying in the semi-finals from all over the world  will compete in the world finals.

The worldwide sponsor for ICPC is IBM and local sponsors are Infosys, HackerRank and Directi.
