CBI Arrests Accused with Interpol's Help

The CBI T’Puram unit, with the help of Interpol, has arrested a person wanted in a cheating case.

The arrested has been identified as Joby Mathew, 42, of Kalleparambil House, Ettumanoor. He had been absconding since 2007 after he was charge-sheeted in a case in which he cheated SBI Alappuzha branch `2.9 crore.

“He was a private financier who cheated several people by obtaining their signatures in loan documents under the pretext that they were signing as guarantors for his loan from SBI ADB Branch, Alappuzha.

He then took the loan amount from the bank without the knowledge of the loanee,” the CBI said in a release here.
