VIJAYAWADA: Meet seven-year-old Munnangi Hasini. She can memorise difficult mathematical calculations and structural formula of a chemical compound. The class two student of Ikon Public School is capable of solving complex mathematical problems such as square and square root in a matter of seconds. In an era where we use high-end gadgets to do simple calculations, she can orally tell you up to 100 multiplication table.
Most of us don’t remember the current day, unless it is a Sunday or a holiday, but Hasini can tell you the day in between calendar years from 1901 to 2100. She is also capable of repeating any given number, which consists of 64 characters.Her talent does not stop there. Her general knowledge can be calculated in ‘bytes’ as she has memorised names of states, countries, capitals, and presidents.
Showcasing her talent in the press club, her father Munnangi Uma Shanker, a senior assistant at the Police Commissionerate said that his daughter’s talent came to the fore when she was four-years-old.
“No pressure was exerted on her. It’s out of her own interest to learn new things,” said the proud father.
“She does not spend much time reading, though her memory power is incredible. We are imparting chess training to her. One day, we hope that she will represent India in world championships,” said her mother Jyothi, who is a home-maker.
Joint Commissioner of Police B V Ramana Kumar tested her IQ by asking several questions. Ramana said, “It is a proud feeling that Hasini hails from a police family. We will help her in all possible ways to attain higher goals.”
