VIJAYAWADA: The third edition of the 11 Sports National Inter School Table Tennis Championship began at Dandamudi Rajagopala Rao Municipal Indoor Stadium (DRRMC) here on Thursday. Special Chief Secretary LV Subrahmanyam inaugurated the four-day championship. Speaking on the occasion, Subrahmanyam underlined the need to participate in sports as it not only helps in personality development but also inculcates the habit of working in groups and developing team spirit.

“Students should spare time for sports to keep themselves fit. Most students do not utilise sports infrastructure. To achieve success, one should be devoted and dedicated to his or her chosen career,” he said. He further said the government introduced physical literacy in all schools.

An action plan has been formulated to develop indoor stadiums and athletic tracks at an estimated cost of `400 crore in each assembly constituency. Around 320 players from 22 states participated in the championship.
