Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu inaugurates Chandranna village malls

Naidu said that the motive of these malls is to provide branded products at affordable prices to consumers living away from urban areas.

VIJAYAWADA: Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu inaugurated Chandranna village malls set up in Vijayawada and Guntur cities on a pilot basis.Inaugurating the malls online, from the Real Time Governance Centre in the Interim Government Complex in Velagapudi on Tuesday, Naidu said that the motive of these malls is to provide branded products at affordable prices to consumers living away from urban areas.

He said that all the 28,000 fair price shops will be converted into village malls in the State. As many as 6,500 fair price shops will be converted into a mall in the first phase.These upgradations include introduction of almost 500 brands to ration shops with a 4% - 35% discount on MRP. The Chief Minister said that 60 per cent of the discount will benefit customers and 40 per cent will benefit fair price shop dealers.

Naidu spoke to a few shopkeepers and villagers through video conference and sought their feedback. He told them that village malls would be accessible online soon and they could save time and effort with the help of technology.Malls will also contain DWCRA, MEPMA and agricultural products that are region-specific. On the occasion, the Chief Minister asked ration shop dealers to take care of the customers and not keeping products that expire.
