VIJAYAWADA : Vijayawada police arrested nin persons for their connection in the sensational murder mystery of Kalidasu Subramanyam alias Subbu who was murdered in cold blood on broad daylight under Machavaram police station limits on December 6. Explaining how they killed Subbu, police commissioner Gautam Sawang recreated the crime scene with the help of demonstration video prepared with clippings of CCTV footage.

He said that six of the accused came to Vijayawada from Itha Nagar, Tenali on December 6 in three bikes and conducted a recce at Machavaram and Eluru Road before attacking Subbu. The main accused Surendra was there at Tenali giving directions to the six over phone.

This was not the first attempt to kill Subbu. Surendra and his men have been conspiring to kill him since the past four months. They even attempted once which failed when a traffic cop stopped them for violating traffic rules.

They came innumerable times to Vijayawada to inquire about Subbu’s whereabouts in Machavaram. Knowing that he regularly visits the tea shop at Machavaram Down, the team hung around the tea stall to monitor Subbu’s movements on that fateful day and killed him. During the interrogation, they confessed to their doing and admitted that Surendra hatched the plan to murder Subbu.

“This is nothing but a case of revenge killing. Subbu was killed to avenge the death of  Mediseeti Krishna, a close aide of Surendra. Krishna was murdered by Subbu and his brother Kalidasu Satyam in April 2014 in Tenali. Later Gadisetti Surendra killed Satyam in 2015,” said Sawang. Sawang further said police tracked the movements of the accused which were captured in 50 CCTV cameras at different junctions in Vijayawada and Tenali. All the nine arrested would be produced in court on Monday.
