VIJAYAWADA: Police detained former MP Undavalli Arun Kumar and Telugu Desam Party (TDP) MLA Gorantla Buchaiah Chowdary at two different locations, while they were proceeding towards Prakasam Barrage in Vijayawada for an open debate on ‘corruption and irregularities in irrigation projects’.

Stating that they had no permission, police detained Arun Kumar first when he was near the Prakasam Barrage. On the other hand, Buchaiah Chowdary was detained at Gannavaram, while he was proceeding towards Prakasam Barrage in a car rally. The incident resulted in traffic jam.

Arun Kumar said he came to Prakasam Barrage accepting the challenge of Buchaiah Chowdary to prove the irregularities in irrigation projects, particularly Pattiseema Project. He said if given a chance, he was ready to prove them.

Meanwhile, Chowdary refuted charges of corruption in irrigation projects and said if any corruption happened, it was during Congress regime and not during TDP rule.
