CM proposes inclusion of Amaravati development in school syllabus

VIJAYAWADA: Describing Amaravati and Polavaram mega projects as pride of Andhra Pradesh, Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu asked the officials to examine the issue of including the construction of the new State capital in the school syllabus.

Addressing a review meeting of ministers and officials on Sunday, the Chief Minister termed Amaravati and Polavaram symbols of prime and progress and wanted both the projects to be given a wide publicity. He said his intention is to make Amaravati the happiest place in the world. For making it to happen, he said the participation of people in the entire process of capital city construction is paramount. He wanted people to own up the project.

The officials concerned should initiate programmes for debates on land pooling and other issues related to development of Amaravati. They should examine the issue of including the significance and history of construction of the world class capital city Amaravati in syllabus for the benefit of future generations, he said.

Naidu directed the CRDA and Irrigation Department officials to work out a special strategy to carry out the massage to each and every village and town of Andhra Pradesh and Telugu NRIs living in various countries.

The CM opined that conduct of seminars and workshops in educational institutions will be immensely useful to obtain the views of students on Amaravati.
He said Amaravati has a great history which dates back to the second century and the origin of world famous Kohinoor diamond is also from this region. The State government is planning to lay the foundation stone for iconic building to house various departments on auspicious Vijayadasami falling on September 30.

He reminded that the foundation stone for the capital city was also laid on Vijayadasami day. “I got a rare opportunity of constructing Amaravati, which comes to one among hundreds of crore people in a century,” he said. The CM expressed confidence of attracting huge investments to AP. Already Singapore, Japan, China, Switzerland, US and UK are keen to invest in Amaravati. The first phase of Amaravati will be completed by March 2019, Naidu said.
