VIJAYAWADA: Veeranki Krishna Kumari has been unanimously elected as the corporator of the 11th division of the Vijayawada Municipal Corporation (VMC).
The seat fell vacant following the death of sitting corporator Veeranki Dange Kumar from the ruling Telugu Desam Party (TDP).
"An independent candidate, Ch Kota Ramamurthy, withdrew his nomination on the final day of withdrawing nominations. Krishna Kumari, wife of Dange Kumar, was elected unopposed as the main opposition party did not field candidate," said returning officer and Gudivada Divisional Panchayat Officer R Victor here on Monday.
