HCL-Andhra Pradesh deal sealed, Lokesh promises jobs to IT students even before graduation

VIJAYAWADA: Terming the agreement between the Andhra Pradesh government and HCL Technologies as the first step towards reaching his promise of generating one lakh jobs in the IT Sector, Information and technology Minister Nara Lokesh said the government was planning to ensure jobs to students even before they graduated.

The TDP scion said the deal had ushered in the beginning of “a new phase in growth of the IT sector”, with HCL Technologies moving into Amaravati. Speaking to mediapersons on the sidelines of a function after sealing the deal for HCL facilities in the state, Lokesh  said:  “I am confident that HCL’s strategic project in Andhra Pradesh will be a catalyst to the IT sector. It will facilitate the creation of world class intellectual property and large scale employment through research and development.’’

HCL will invest `500 crore in 10 years, for a development centre, training facility and other ancillary facilities. The company will hire, employ and train 5,000 local residents in the region across the two phases. HCL will develop its first centre at Kesarapalli village in Gannavaram mandal near Vijayawada in an area of 17.86 acres. The second centre will come up in 10 acres in Amaravati.
