VIJAYAWADA: Leaders of the TDP and the YSRC on Sunday locked horns over YSRC chief YS Jaganmohan Reddy’s name allegedly featuring in the Paradise Papers. While Finance Minister Yanamala Ramakrishnudu said the YSRC chief had lost the moral right to continue in politics after his name figured in the shame list, YSRC MLA and Public Accounts Committee chairman Buggana Rajendranath Reddy claimed TDP leaders were spewing lies and demanded that Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu quit as he was unable to prove the charge against Jagan.

Speaking to reporters in Vijayawada, Yanamala said the people would see to it that Jagan was expelled from politics as his “financial offences are damaging the reputation of the State”. “It is dangerous to have a person like Jagan in politics,’’ he said and observed that the YSRC leader was trying to distract the people’s attention by going on a padayatra.

He also demanded the CBI, Central Board of Direct Taxes, Financial Intelligence Unit and Reserve Bank of India (RBI) investigate money laundering by the YSRC supremo.

Refuting the allegations, Buggana said former TDP MLA Revanth Reddy had accused Yanamala’s kin of having contracts worth over `2,000 crore in Telangana. Addressing a press conference in Hyderabad, Buggana said the Chief Minister had failed to pick the gauntlet thrown by Jagan and could in no way prove that the YSRC chief’s name had featured in the Paradise Papers.

When the name of one of the director of Heritage Foods owned by Naidu’s family appeared in the Panama papers, there was no reaction from Naidu, the YSRC leader said.
