‘Evolve steps to refund money to AgriGold victims’

Agrigold Customers and Agents Welfare Association president Muppala Nageswara Rao demanded that the government evolve measures to repay the amount deposited by customers in the scam.

VIJAYAWADA:  Agrigold Customers and Agents Welfare Association president Muppala Nageswara Rao demanded that the government evolve measures to repay the amount deposited by customers in the scam-tainted AgriGold firm. Addressing a press conference here on Wednesday, Nageswara Rao said the SIT is discriminating among the aggrieved customers citing the purview of various acts.

He alleged that the officials were turning down some of the applications citing that transactions came under Societies Act. The State government should take up the responsibility of rendering justice to all the beneficiaries who had initiated financial transactions with the AgriGold Group.

“Around 23 lakh applications have been scrutinised in AP. The number of victims has gone up from 19.5 lakh to nearly 23 lakh as more victims were added to the list who bought bonds under a new scheme floated by the company such as Agri Parivar Scheme. The government should now take the receipts into consideration while registering the transactions,” said Nageswara Rao.
