VIJAYAWADA: An auto driver sexually assaulted two mentally unsound girls, including a minor, in their residence in Nemali village, Gampalagudem mandal Wednesday evening. Police have initiated a manhunt to nab the accused auto driver who is absconding. According to Gampalagudem police officials, the accused K Gopi Krishna is a resident of ZPHS School Road in Nemali village. Knowing that the parents of the two girls are away for work, around 4 pm, the 25-year-old reportedly entered the victims’ house. Gopi found both the girls sleeping and sexually assaulted them, one after the other. He further threatened the girls with dire consequences if they disclosed the incident.
When the girls’ parents reached home two hours later, the girls were seen crying. They narrated their ordeal to their mother. They even complained of severe pain in stomach. The parents found blood stains on the bed. They approached police and lodged a complaint against Gopi.
“Few neighbours claimed that they have seen Gopi coming out of the house. He had a bad reputation in the colony and was warned many times in the past for his attitude towards women,” said Gampalagudem police. A case under relevant sections of sexual assault against women and POCSO Act was booked against the accused auto driver.
