VIJAYAWADA: “The green capital Amaravati really attracted me a lot and I am truly privileged to be here this evening,” said Bollywood actress Deepika Padukone after receiving the award for Most popular Indian Actress on social media, during the social media awards event held in the city on Sunday.

The award night witnessed many celebrities from film and entertainment fraternity and young achievers who reached the heights through social media. AP Tourism, YouTube, Instagram, Twitter and Facebook collaborated for this event.

Deepika Padukone said, “My fans follow me actively on social media, that’s why I am active on social media. I share majority of my things related to the films, endorsements, travel, etc on the social media. Except my personal things, I share everything with my followers and as they like my posts, they are following me and that made me receive this award tonight.”

Minister for AP Tourism Bhuma Akila Priya said, “Even the next year, I wish Deepika Padukone would receive the same award in the same city and by then I assure to have a direct flight service from Mumbai. “
Tollywood actor Daggubati Rana received the award as most active south India actor on social media.  Daggubati Rana said, “Through social media, I have reached every corner of the country. Social media plays a vital role in film promotions. I think, I am the only actor in the industry who is more on social media and less on work,”

Young musician Anirudh Ravichandran received the award for creating musical sensation on social media with his ‘Why this Kolavari di?’ song. After receiving the award,  Anirudh cheered the audience by singing a song from the upcoming Pawan Kalyan’s movie Agnathavasi. A total of 30 people have received social media awards in 26 other categories.
