3-day Amaravati theatre fest to be held from Nov 24

The Andhra Pradesh Tourism department is all set to hold the first Amaravati Theatre Festival in the city.

VIJAYAWADA: The Andhra Pradesh Tourism department is all set to hold the first Amaravati Theatre Festival in the city. The multilingual festival will be organised here from Friday to Sunday. The Amaravati Theatre Festival will feature theatre artistes, transforming the auditorium into an entertainment powerhouse with their superlative performances. More importantly, unique stories relating to all walks of life will be showcased. Cultures and art forms from across the country will be unified and celebrated in one big carnival.

In fact, AP Tourism is on full swing this year in conducting various themed festivals and boosting the tourism revenue. Early this year, it happened to be with Punnami Orvakal, followed by Festival AP, Hot Air Balloon Festival and now with Amaravati Theatre Festival. Apart from these, some mini festivals were organised by the tourism sector this year.

Speaking about Amaravati Theatre Festival, Andhra Pradesh Tourism Authority CEO Himanshu Shukla said, “Through this event, we want to promote our rich cultural heritage and world-class entertainment for all theatre fans. This will be an annual carnival and a signature property where enthusiasts can come and enjoy their favourite theatre art and relive the heritage of Andhra Pradesh’s acclaimed culture.’’

AP Creativity and Culture Commission CEO Vijay Bhaskar said, “The Amaravati Theatre Festival is a stepping stone to what we envisage as the starting point of bringing to life the culture of Andhra Pradesh through the display of fine art and artistes from across the State.”

Enthusiasts can come and enjoy their favourite theatre art and relive the heritage of Andhra Pradesh’s acclaimed culture

The festival will be formally inaugurated on Friday at 11 am at the Tummalapalli Kalakshetram

This will be followed by a presentation of mythological play Sri Krishna Rayabaram
