VIJAYAWADA:  In a shocking incident, two babies died due to alleged negligence of doctors at Old Government General Hospital (GGH) here on Thursday. According to Governorpet Police, B Narayana Rao of Gangireddula Dibba, Gunadala is a bus driver in a private school. His wife B Parvathy (39) was admitted to Old GGH on early Tuesday. She gave birth to two male twins. Both the mother and the twins were put in the general ward. On Thursday morning, one of the babies was not responding and was taken to SNC unit. The baby was declared brought dead and the second baby died in the afternoon.

‘’We had children after 18 years but our happiness was short lived. The twins were healthy at the time of birth. Our children would have survived had the doctors put them on incubation on-time. It is clear that my sons died because of the doctor’s negligence,’’ said Narayana Rao, the father of the twins.

Rao lodged a complaint against the doctors with Governorpet Police. A case was registered under section 174. GGH in-charge superintendent SB Lal ordered a probe and formed a committee with three Head of departments to identify the cause of death of the twins.
