Northeast monsoon to bring rain in Vijayawada in next 24 hours

For the next 24 hours, meteorological conditions continue to remain favourable for commencement of northeast monsoon rains over the southern parts of peninsular India.

VISAKHAPATNAM: For the next 24 hours, meteorological conditions continue to remain favourable for commencement of northeast monsoon rains over the southern parts of peninsular India. A low trough at mean sea level lies over southeast Bay of Bengal and neighbourhood. 
The upper air cyclonic circulation extending up to 2.1 km above the mean sea level over north Andaman Sea and neighbourhood has become less marked. 

“Under the cyclonic circulation, light to moderate rain and thundershowers are likely to occur at isolated places over Coastal Andhra Pradesh and Rayalaseema in the next 24 hours,” said an IMD official. 


While they were isolated rains in the districts of coastal AP and Rayalaseema, temperatures were above normal at one or two places over coastal AP and Rayalaseema. A maximum temperature of 35 degree Celsius was recorded at Nandigama, Ongole and Nellore.

There has been no major change in minimum temperatures over coastal AP and Rayalaseema during the last 24 hours. The lowest minimum temperature (21 degree Celsius) was recorded at Arogyavaram. According to IMD scientist K Naga Ratna, in the next 24 hours, there will be commencement of northeast monsoon which will give rains at isolated places over coastal AP. Besides, the temperature will remain the same for the next four days.
