Rythanga Samara Bheri: Farmers’ convention to kick start tomorrow in Vijayawada

All set for the ‘Rythanga Samara Bheri’ (farmers convention) in Vijayawada, which will mark the arrival of Kisan Mukthi Yatra in the city on September 17.

VIJAYAWADA: All set for the ‘Rythanga Samara Bheri’ (farmers convention) in Vijayawada, which will mark the arrival of Kisan Mukthi Yatra in the city on September 17. Retired Supreme Court judge Venkat Gopal Goud, Swaraj Abhiyan chief Yogendra Yadav, Kiran Kumar of Rythu Swarajya Vedika, KL Rao’s son K Vijaya Rao and others will attend the meeting. 

Disclosing it to mediapersons on Friday, former agriculture minister Vadde Sobhanadreeswara Rao, who is heading the organising committee of the Rythanga Rakshana Vedika, said: “What we are demanding is proper calculation of support price for farm produce by CACP. We want the Centre to scrap the free trade agreements that are detrimental to farmers.” He added more importantly, they want the government to desist from forced land acquisition by amending the Land Acquisition Act 2013.
