Mobile soil testing facility in all districts

The State government, which stood top in issuing soil health cards, has launched mobile soil testing facility in all the 13 districts of the State.

VIJAYAWADA: The State government, which stood top in issuing soil health cards, has launched mobile soil testing facility in all the 13 districts of the State.Despite setting up Soil Testing Laboratories (STLs) in all the districts, the mobile soil testing (MST) facility has been launched as farmers finding it difficult to approach the STLs. As the government set up one MST in each district, there will be no necessity for the farmers to visit STLs as they can give their soil for testing whenever the MST facility coming to their areas, an official of the Agriculture department said.

The results of the soil analysis are being communicated to the respective farmers through Soil Health Card. “The government so far collected and analysed 13,48,382 soil samples and distributed 54,26,625 Soil Health Cards in three phases to farmers to adopt soil test-based fertilizer application, thereby decreasing the cost of cultivation and increasing productivity,’’ Agriculture Minister Somireddy Chandramohan Reddy said.
