VIJAYAWADA:  The e-Pragati Authority of the Information Technology (IT) department is gearing up to launch a total of 125 services through its digital transformation initiative by January next. The initiative, whose motto is ‘invisible government, visible governance’, is being designed as a one-stop access point for all the 745 citizen services offered by all the government departments.

“We have identified 125 services from seven departments, including Certificate Less Governance System (CLGS) and Licence Management System (LMS), to be integrated with the platform. We are working on it and expect to make them available by January,” IT Principal Secretary K Vijayanand explained. The identified services are from Municipal Administration and Urban Development (MAUD), education, transport, welfare, primary sector, health and police. Of the 125 services, 16 have already been integrated, while 68 services are to be integrated. “Around 25 will be greenfield services, seven CLGS and nine LMS services,” another official said.

For the record, even though the government had launched the citizen-centric digital initiative five months ago, it has been able to provide only around 16 citizen services so far. The slow progress had even irked Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu, who, during the Collectors’ Conference held in October, expressed his displeasure for not making the project a reality even though it was being worked on since 2014.

Subsequently, Naidu had constituted a committee under the chairmanship of Chief Secretary Anil Chandra Punetha, to expedite the work. The e-governance and IT advisor to the State government, J Satyanarayana, is also a part of the committee. The committee has been holding meetings with all the departments to chalk out the integration plan. “The committee will hold a meeting in the second week of this month to chalk out a detailed plan. By January, we will be able to figure out by when all the services can be made available,” the official said.
