VIJAYAWADA:   Former minister Ravela Kishore Babu, who has resigned from the ruling TDP and as MLA, his wife Shanti Jyoti and followers formally joined Jana Sena Party here on Saturday in the presence of party chief Pawan Kalyan. Speaking on the occasion, Ravela said he had faced identity crisis in the TDP. “Though they have given me a post, they did not give me the power that goes with it. Power is concentrated only in a few hands in the TDP government,” he alleged.

Welcoming him into the party, Kalyan said Ravela would become MLA in 2019, adding that party will not only give posts, but also power to the elected representatives. Kalyan lambasted the TDP for its casteist and convenient politics. “When I supported the TDP in the 2014 polls, I hoped it will do justice to all, irrespective of caste   and creed. I thought Chandrababu Naidu, being away from the government for 10 long years, would refrain from opportunist politics.

But Naidu proved me wrong,” he said. He said earlier he was confident that there would not be any law and order problem with Naidu at the helm of affairs because during the NTR regime and previous Naidu government law and order in the State were maintained well. “Today, it is sad to note that law and order problems are everywhere. There is no control over MLAs, who attack womenfolk and officials and indulge in illegal sand mining activities,” he said.

Kalyan also wondered as to how Naidu, who is becoming old day after day, proposes to take forward his vision without any control over his corrupt MLAs.  Earlier, Ravela Kishore Babu said reposing faith in TDP chief Chandrababu Naidu, he joined the TDP and as given a minister post. However, he has never had the freedom to do justice to his post as he had no power. He said during the past few years, he was under tremendous pressure due to ideological conflict.

“Feeling insulted and unable to bear seeing my self-respect being trampled upon, I quit the TDP and joined the Jana Sena to become a partner in their efforts to bring a change in the society,” he said.
Later, Pasupuleti Ushakiran, who resigned from the YSRC, joined Jana Sena along with her followers. Former ZPTC K Rambabu from East Godavari also joined Jana Sena along with his followers.
