Government refutes Ajeya Kallam’s graft  allegations

The State government has refuted the allegations of corruption levelled against it by former Chief Secretary Ajeya Kallam.

VIJAYAWADA:   The State government has refuted the allegations of corruption levelled against it by former Chief Secretary Ajeya Kallam. Water Resources Minister Devineni Umamaheswara Rao and Agriculture Minister Somireddy Chandramohan Reddy sought to know why Kallam remained silent when he was in a responsible position.

“Kallam alleged that corruption is rife in the State and Rs 3 lakh crore was looted. He also alleged embezzlement of funds to the tune of Rs 20,000 crore in the Irrigation department alone. If that was the case, what was he doing when he served as the Finance Secretary, Special Chief Secretary of Revenue and Excise and Chief Secretary?” he asked.

“Are you so incompetent as a bureaucrat? Did you ever refer about corruption in the files you cleared? You praised Chandrababu Naidu and his government when you were in top posts and pillory them as soon as you retire. Does your batch has nothing else to do?’’ he asked. He also wanted to know why he did not utter a single word against YSRC chief YS Jagan Mohan Reddy, accused in 12 cases. Devineni also took on Kallam and former DGP Anjaneya Reddy and felt that it was not fair on the part of bureaucrats to level allegations against the government after retirement.
