VIJAYAWADA: With no signs of the Andhra Pradesh State Road Transport Corporation (APSRTC) management implementing the new pay revision for its employees, the Employees Union (EU) has been planning to call for an indefinite strike in case the officials fail to take a decision in the upcoming meet on December 20. When contacted, RTC EU State secretary P Damodar said that earlier this year, a six-member committee was constituted by Transport Minister K Atchannaidu and other RTC officials to discuss and implement the new pay revision for all 54,000 employees in the Corporation with effect from April 1, 2017.
So far, the committee has convened four meetings with the union leaders and it has not taken any step towards implementing the new pay revision. Instead, the management has been coming up with steps to introduce ‘Voluntary Retirement Scheme’ (VRS) for its employees who have crossed 52 years of age or have had 22 years of experience in the Corporation to reduce the number of employees, he said.
“As on date, around 8,000 employees have retired from their services since 2014 and the management is not working towards recruiting staff. We have adopted a wait and watch policy until December 20 because that is when the next meeting on new pay revision will be conducted,” Damodar said.
