Temple gears up for rush of devotees

VIJAYAWADA:   Foolproof arrangements are being made at Sri Durga Malleswara Swamy Varla Devasthanam, Indrakeeladri, for a smooth conduct of relinquishment of Bhavani Deeksha from December 28 to January 2, 2019, said Joint Collector-II, P Babu Rao.

Rao chaired a coordination committee meeting at District Collector camp office on Saturday with Endowments, Vijayawada Municipal Corporation (VMC), Police, APSRTC and Irrigation department officials to review the arrangements for the annual event.

He said that all arrangements are being made for the convenience of Bhavani devotees participating in the 8 km ‘Giri Pradakshina’ ritual, before having the darshan of Goddess Kanaka Durga. A control room will be setup and drinking water and medical facilities will be provided to devotees.

Food safety officials have been directed to conduct surprise checks at food stalls arranged by voluntary organisations.
