BJP dares TDP for open debate on funds

Amid growing discontent between the ruling allies in the State, BJP chief spokesperson Sudhish Rambhotla on Monday dared TDP leaders for an open debate on the funds allocated by the Centre.

VIJAYAWADA: Amid growing discontent between the ruling allies in the State, BJP chief spokesperson Sudhish Rambhotla on Monday dared TDP leaders for an open debate on the funds allocated by the Centre to the State government since 2014.Addressing a press conference here, Sudhish came down heavily on the opposition YSRC and Left parties for agitating against the Centre without having a proper idea on the budget allocations made to the State.

He wondered why the TDP is falling into the trap laid by the opposition parties and making allegations against the BJP led NDA government. At least now, Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu should intervene to put an end to the verbal duel between the alliance partners, he said. As on date, the Centre has sanctioned `2,500 crore towards the construction of Amaravati, he said, reminding that Naya Raipur, the capital of Chhattisgarh, has been constructed with `5,000 crore sanctioned by the Centre.

“The State government should explain how it spent `2,500 crore sanctioned towards Amaravati construction. Did the State government get any approval from the Centre towards the construction of temporary structures in Velagapudi instead of permanent structures,’’ he asked. The BJP leader made it clear that the Union government would allocate funds only for the construction of Assembly and Secretariat, not  for the roads and other infrastructure facilities in the new capital.  “The Union government is ready to sanction funds for the construction of Polavaram project, Vijayawada metro and other promises made in the AP Reorganisation Act,” he said.

Commenting on the construction of Polavaram project, Sudhish said one crore cubic metre earth work was completed during the Congress rule in the State.Speaking on Pawan Kalyan, Sudhish said, “It is better for Pawan to continue ties with BJP as it is the only good decision taken by him.”

Won’t lose anything if alliance breaks: BJP
Vijayawada: Endowments Minister P Manikyala Rao has said the BJP will not lose anything if the TDP decides to end the alliance with it. “In the present situation, the TDP may not take such an extreme step. However, if such a situation arises, the BJP is ready to counter the false propaganda of the TDP. If possible, a clarification over fund allocation to AP will be given by Union Finance Minister Arun Jaitley.”
