Amarnath Reddy credits N Chandrababu Naidu for flow of investments into State

Says Rs 3 lakh crore worth MoUs will be exchanged during three-day summit in Vizag.

VIJAYAWADA: Industries Minister N Amarnath Reddy has said that investors are evincing interest in investing in Andhra Pradesh not because of the Centre, but because of the leadership of Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu.

Though, the minister said, the State government is hosting the CII Partnership Summit in Visakhapatnam from February 24 to 26, it’s  being organised by the Department of Industrial Policy and Promotion (GoI), in association with the Confederation of Indian Industry (CII), and investors are looking to Andhra Pradesh because of the track record of the Chief Minister.

Speaking to mediapersons at the Interim Government Complex in Velagapudi on Tuesday, the minister said that as per the oral commitments received from various investors, `3 lakh crore worth MoUs will be exchanged during the three-day event.Stating that trade ministers from as many as 14 countries will participate in the summit, he said that delegations from 39 countries, apart from 2,500 participants and business leaders from flagship companies will take part.

Nine Plenary Sessions will be held on themes like ‘Sunrise Andhra Pradesh,’ ‘Industry 4.0,’ ‘Skill Development’, ‘World Trade, Ease of Doing Business,’ and ‘Flagship Programmes of Centre and Infrastructure Development.’

In the Partnership Summit, eight sessions will be held on the sectors like automobile, tourism, textiles, aerospace and defence, renewable energy, food processing, electronics and medical equipment.
The State government organised a road show and exclusive interaction with potential investors in New Delhi and Gurugram on Tuesday in the run up to the CII Partnership Summit 2018.

Speaking on the occasion, Siddharth Jain, Commissioner of Industries, said investor road shows are being organised in Delhi, Mumbai, Chennai, Kolkata and Bangalore to create awareness among the investors about investment climate in AP and invite them to invest in the State.

“Andhra Pradesh is growing at a sustained double digit rate and has the required infrastructure of ports, airports to facilitate investments. AP is among top three States in India to have attracted most Foreign Direct Investments (FDIs) in 2016. Two industrial corridors, Chennai - Bengaluru Industrial Corridor and Visakhapatnam - Chennai Industrial Corridor are being developed in the State,’’ he said.
