Holidays for APTransco power staff cancelled

In view of the indefinite strike by the contract electricity employees, APTransco has decided to cancel the holidays and leaves of the staff of Discoms to ensure that services are not disrupted. 

VIJAYAWADA: In view of the indefinite strike by the contract electricity employees, APTransco has decided to cancel the holidays and leaves of the staff of Discoms to ensure that services are not disrupted. The officials have also decided to employ work force from private agencies, if necessary.

In a teleconference with chairman and managing director of APTransco K Vijayanand on Wednesday, the joint managing directors of the department Dinesh Paruchuri and P Umapathi explained the steps being taken in view of the ongoing strike. “Besides employing personnel from private agencies on an immediate basis, we will also make the services of retired engineers and staff. Steps are being taken to ensure that the services are not disrupted at any juncture,” they said.

The officials further observed that the strike announcement by AP Contract Electricity Employees Association has caused inconvenience even though Energy Minister K Kala Venkat Rao promised to resolve their issues.They also directed the engineering staff to take the help of local police to deploy security at the sub-stations.
