VIJAYAWADA:  Describing Dharma Porata Deeksha of Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu as another drama, Leader of Opposition and YSRC party chief YS Jaganmohan Reddy has demanded to know why Naidu is not speaking about his U-turns while exposing the betrayal of Prime Minister Narendra Modi with regard to special category status.

Addressing a public gathering at Mummidivaram in East Godavari district on Saturday, Jagan said that it was specifically mentioned in the AP Reorganisation Act that all provisions need to be implemented in six months, but no attention was paid to it by the Chief Minister.“Even one year after bifurcation, Naidu failed to question the Central government over the delay in implementation of those provisions. In fact, during the four years of alliance with the BJP, Naidu has never raised the promises made in the AP Reorganisation Act and now, after parting ways with the BJP,  he is playing a new drama every day,” he said.

Speaking on the Dharma Porata Deeksha of Naidu on Friday in Kakinada, the YSRC party chief demanded that along with screening the Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s speech regarding SCS, Naidu should also screen what he had said about special category status on different occasions in the past. Focusing on various issues related to East Godavari district, the Leader of Opposition said though the district has the Godavari flowing through it, people here are not getting sufficient drinking and irrigation water.

“Though there are rich deposits of oil and gas here, youth are migrating looking for jobs. Though the majority of MLA seats in the district were won by the TDP, it failed to do develop the district. What the people getting is polluted water,” he said, showing a bottle of polluted water. Reminding Naidu’s promise of irrigation water to Godavari delta in June when the farmers declared crop holiday in 2011, Jaganmohan Reddy asked what happened to that promise. “Even today, water has not been released, even as paddy plantation is nearing completion,” he pointed out.
