VIJAYAWADA: Ahead of the commencement of monsoon session of Parliament from Wednesday, TDP MPs intensified their efforts to drum up the support of non-BJP and non-Congress parties to their proposed motion of no- confidence against the Centre. The TDP is learnt to have decided to stall Parliament proceedings in case the Centre refuses to admit the notice for no trust motion. The party is planning to serve a notice for no-confidence motion on the very first day of the session.

In the past two days, the party MPs, who divided into six groups, met leaders of TRS, D Raja of CPI, CPM general secretary Sitaram Yechury, DMK MP Kanimozhi, NCP chief Sharad Pawar and Karnataka Chief Minister and JD (S) leader H D Kumaraswamy and handed over TDP president and AP Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu’s letter, seeking cooperation and support for his fight against the Centre. The party wants to take all opposition parties into confidence about its strategy aimed at achieving special category status and deflect any future criticism for disrupting Parliament proceedings.

Speaking to TNIE, Srikakulam MP K Rammohan Naidu said that they would move a no-trust motion against the Centre. “We want the opposition parties to understand our compulsions and that the TDP MPs are not attending the House with the sole agenda of disrupting the proceedings. “As part of this, we are meeting leaders of all political parties except the BJP and the Congress, to explain to them in detail about the raw deal meted out to the State and seek their support,” he said. Asked about the stand of the TDP on the election of Rajya Sabha deputy chairman, he made it clear that the question of supporting the BJP’s candidate would not arise at this juncture. The final call on supporting the opposition candidate for the post would be taken by party chief Chandrababu Naidu.

Meanwhile, TDP general secretary and Information Technology Minister Nara Lokesh said that while the TDP was gearing up to move a no-confidence motion against the Centre, the YSR Congress MPs confined themselves to their homes after submitting their resignations.

Accusing the TDP of raising curtains for another drama in the name of no-trust motion, former YSRC MP YV Subba Reddy said they would stage protests at the Gandhi statue on the Parliament premises.   However, the suspense continues as to the moves of Janasena chief Pawan Kalyan, who took a break from his ‘Porata Yatra’.  Since the floor of Parliament is left open to the ruling TDP to grab all the credit for waging a lonely battle for the interests of the State, it remains to be seen what plan Pawan Kalyan would come up with.
