School bus drivers undergo training program, told to avoid rash driving

VIJAYAWADA: Around 600 drivers from various educational institutions took part in the one-day refresher training program for drivers organised by the Krishna district Road Transport Authority (RTA) at Siddhartha Auditorium here on Monday.

Speaking on the occasion, deputy transport commissioner (DTC) E Meera Prasad called upon the drivers, especially those who transport children, to be alert while driving. The program was conducted with an objective to reduce road accidents involving school buses in the city and district, and make drivers aware of the AP Motor Vehicle Rule 185 (G), he said. DCP T Ram Prasad appealed to the drivers to avoid rash and negligent driving while ferrying school children. A technical team from Andhra Hospitals shared the methods to be followed in handling trauma victims. They explained the concept of ‘golden hour’ and gave a demonstration on how to offer first-aid to accident victims.

The DTC presented awards to KL University, Vaddeswaram, VR Siddhartha Engineering College, Kanuru and Amrutha Sai Engineering College, Kanchikacherla for their cooperation in conducting Road Safety Audit on NH 16 and NH 65 in September` 2017.
