VIJAYAWADA: Vijayawada police arrested the accused in the brutal killing of a railway gateman on Monday at Railway training institute in Satyanarayanapuram.

The accused, Kendall Sekhar (30), killed his brother-in-law Chadalavadu Raju after having a heated argument over a family dispute.

In-charge Deputy commissioner of police (DCP) Shaik Nawab Jaan said Shekhar had married Raju’s elder sister Jyothsna four years ago and was harassing her for dowry.

Unable to bear his torture, Jyothsna went to her mother’s place seven months ago in Nidadavolu.
When Shekhar demanded his wife be sent back to his home, Raju refused. That’s how Shekhar developed a grudge against Raju, the DCP said.

Following Raju’s family members’ complaint, a case under section 302 of IPC (murder) was registered against Sekhar.

“We have successfully arrest ed him within 24 hours of the incident,” DCP Nawab Jaan said.
