VIJAYAWADA: Officials of India Meteorological Department (IMD) have issued the warning of heavy rains in north coastal Andhra Pradesh, as a new low pressure was formed in the Bay of Bengal region on Thursday. Visakhapatnam, Srikakulam, Vizianagaram, East Godavari and West Godavari districts will be impacted by this low pressure.

Light to moderate rain or thundershowers is likely to occur at many places in coastal Andhra Pradesh and at isolated places in Rayalaseema up to July 21. The sea is going to be harsh and high-tide alerts have been issued along the coastal line and fishermen are asked not to go fishing.

However, while the weather, in general, had almost been dry across the State, in a few places there were drizzles or light rain on Thursday. Weathermen said that heavy rains would take place from Thursday night or from early Friday morning and would continue for the next 48 hours.
