VIJAYAWADA: In a late night raid on a private hotel, the city police nabbed 55 persons, mostly businessmen, who were found consuming liquor amid obscene dances by women, arranged by the party organiser.

Acting on a tip-off, Bhavanipuram police conducted raids at Olive Tree Hotel in the city late on Wednesday night.

When the police team led by Task Force ACP Ramana Murthy, West Zone ACP Sudhakar and three CIs entered the hotel room, they found five women performing an obscene dance to the tunes of popular songs and enthralling the gathering, who were said to be in an inebriated condition. The women were shifted to Vasavya Mahila Mandali in the city for counselling.

According to Bhavanipuram police, the hotel is being maintained by one Sama Chaitanya.
On Wednesday night, two persons Kota Sunil and P Suresh organised Galaxy Kitty Party in the hotel where the women were performing obscene dances in front of 55 persons. During an investigation, the police came to know that the organisers collected `2,000 from each individual as the participation fee. Liquor and food were served during the dance show.

The arrested were shifted to Bhavanipuram, One Town, Ibrahimpatnam and Governorpet police stations. Cases have been registered against 55 persons, hotel owner and also the organisers under Section 354 of IPC and investigation is on. The accused were produced before the court on Thursday morning and sent for judicial remand. Among the five women, three are from Bhimavaram, one from Hyderabad and the other from Vijayawada. The women were sent for counselling and will be let off soon, a police official said.

Adulterated ghee seized

The Vigilance and Enforcement department officials conducted raids and seized 100 kg of adulterated ghee at Bhavana Traders in Mangalagiri of Guntur district on Thursday.
The Bhavana Traders had been manufacturing adulterated ghee by adding Dalda and palm oil and selling the same to hotels in the city for the past five years.
During the investigation, the officials came to know that one named Koteswara Rao of Tadepalli was preparing adulterated ghee at his residence and selling it to Bhavana Traders at Mangalagiri.
