‘Valued taxpayers’ felicitated by I-T department

VIJAYAWADA: Requesting all the salaried and business people to pay the income taxes and file the returns by July 31, principle commissioner of Income Tax- Vijayawada division, M Bhupal Reddy, said the taxes paid by every citizen will be used for nation building.

Addressing the media on the occasion of 158th Income Tax Day held at a hotel in Vijayawada on Tuesday, Bhupal Reddy said the income tax department is felicitating its valued taxpayers from different categories of Vijayawada region for the first time to encourage people to pay taxes regularly. The department also felicitated eight eminent citizens as a part of Income Tax department’s outreach program.

The top-nine taxpayers from Vijayawada region are Indwell Constructions Pvt Ltd, The KCP Ltd, Mohan Spintex India Ltd, The AP State Co-Op Bank Ltd, Fysolate Technologies, The Krishna District Co-op Central Bank Ltd and three individuals namely Raparalla Chandra Mohan, Gadde Rani and Kalagara Rajeswari.

Bhupal Reddy said they have collected Rs 2700 crore tax in 2017-2018, and set a target of Rs 3480 crore for 2018-2019. “In the 360 degree profile, we, the IT department officials, will monitor the financial activities of people minute by minute. Every transaction will be recorded and stored in our database under the person’s profile. Paying tax is our responsibility,” he said.   

HRD minister Ganta Srinivas Rao, who attended the programme as the chief guest, said the government will take severe actions against tax evaders.
