VIJAYAWADA: Hundreds of Muslims from Rayapudi village of capital Amaravati expressed their unhappiness over lack of land for construction of an eidgah. During namaz on Seed Access Road on the occasion of Eid on Saturday, community leaders demanded that the government allocate land in the capital region.

Speaking on the occasion, co-convenor of Andhra Pradesh Ahle Sunnat Wal Jamaat (APASWJ) Mohammed Altaf Raza said, “We have been offering namaz on the road as the State government has not responded to our request. An eidgah is important for us as a community we offer prayers together. We have given several representations to the State government and the Chief Minister.

We had met several officials during land acquisition for the capital city under the Land Pooling Scheme, seeking some suitable land for eidgah but there has been no response.” The community members said they did not have either a burial ground or a madarsa.
