VIJAYAWADA: The APSRTC has hiked the ticket fares of all services except ‘Palle Velugu’ by up to `4. According to a circular issued by APSRTC Vice-Chairman and Managing Director NV Surendra Babu, the decision, which came into effect from Friday, was taken in the name of rounding off the fares to the nearest `5 denomination to avoid issues related to tendering change.
For example, the fare of express service from Vijayawada to Eluru, which cost `66 till Thursday, became `70 from Friday. Similarly, the fare of express service between Vijayawada and Guntur, was increased to `40 from `36. Furthermore, RTC officials said, Vennela service fare will be rounded off to the nearest `10 denomination.
