VIJAYAWADA: Officials of Vijayawada Municipal Corporation (VMC) received the Skoch Order-of-Merit award for implementing projects like smart semi-underground garbage bins and electronic surveillance of all bins with CCTV cameras. VMC’s Executive Engineer ASN Prasad and Urban Engineer Dileep received the award at the 52nd Skoch Summit held in New Delhi on Friday.
On Saturday, VMC commissioner J Nivas and Mayor Koneru Sridhar will receive an award as Vijayawada topped the list of cleanest cities in the country in the big cities (population of ten lakh and above) category in Swachh Survekshan - 2018 rankings. They will receive the award from Prime Minister Narendra Modi in a programme to be held in Indore.
APIIC gets award for second time
AP Industrial Infrastructure Corporation (APIIC) has received a Skoch award for the second consecutive year. APIIC received the Skoch Order-of-Merit award at a programme held in Delhi on Friday. The award-winning project, ‘Third Party Monitoring of Industrial Allotments’, is expected to fundamentally transform the way of capturing and analysing information on the status of project implementation by industries who have been allotted land by State government.
