SI suspended for ignoring complaints against prostitution racket in city

Commissioner of Police Gautam Sawang suspended sub-inspector of police K Subba Rao for not responding to he complaints filed against the incidents of prostitution.

VIJAYAWADA:  Commissioner of Police Gautam Sawang suspended sub-inspector of police K Subba Rao for not responding to the complaints filed against the incidents of prostitution at Jakkampudi YSR Colony in the past. According to a release, the SI, while serving at the II Town police station, reportedly ignored the complaints by locals against the prostitution racket in the YSRC Colony many months ago. Subba Rao is presently attached to the Gannavaram police station.

He was suspended on charges of dereliction of duties in the past. “He was put under suspension for being negligent in duties. We shall monitor the activities of YSR Colony. We have asked the officials concerned to respond when the public file complaints on illegal and anti-social activities.” 

The city police formed a special team and rescued a girl by arresting organisers of a prostitution racket which was busted following a complaint lodged by a woman on Thursday, When Joint Commissioner of Police (JCP) Kanthi Rana Tata visited the colony on Friday, the residents complained about the prostitution racket that was run by a woman Sobharani and her aide Satish. The residents also said that the II Town police had failed to take action against the illegal activities despite lodging complaints.
